One of the understated free and fun events in Los Angeles. Put on by the Independent Shakespeare Company, these productions are professional and free during the summer months. Bring a blanket and some food for laying out in the grass while you watch.
Sturtevant Falls Hike
Escape the city and take this beautiful hike towards waterfalls (depending on the drought). A few miles outside of LA county. You will always meet people along the trail willing to chat.
Dance DTLA
Hosted by the LA Music Center these are free dance lessons out in Grand Park during the summer. You can find the summer schedule on their website link. Great for couples and singles alike, many people like to dance with the instructors or switch dance partners and meet new people.
